Secret Santa and Gift Elf Signup 2012!

It’s that time of year again, Smack Jeeves Secret Santa!

For people who are new to this, if you sign up, you are sent the name of another member, whom you make a personal gift for. It essentially works in a circle, with all participants receiving an anonymous gift, which will be posted on the Secret Santa 2012 comic site (Coming Soon).

At this point we are looking for two roles, both of which are very important.

First we are looking for GIFT ELVES.

These are people who want to lend a helping hand and create works of art for people who have been scrooged this year. If someone has been scrooged it means that their Secret Santa did not submit a piece of art for them, or the piece they did submit was noticeably unacceptable. The Gift Elves will be given the names of those who are scrooged and will then produce pieces of art to share for them! It’s a very important role!

Second we are looking for SECRET SANTAS!!!!

These are all of you who want to participate and be someone else’s Secret Santa!
Remember, no one likes a Scrooge, but everyone loves a Secret Santa!

To keep everything organized we request that you ONLY post here if you are signing up as a GIFT ELF or a SECRET SANTA.
If you wish to take on either of these rolls simply reply and state whether you want to be an Elf or a Secret Santa, or both! We will post the names here when signups close to make sure we didn't miss anyone.

SIGNUPS WILL RUN UNTIL MIDNIGHT DEC 5th!
We will then try to PM everyone their names by Dec 8th.

Secret Santa 2012 Rules:

1. Deadline:

All entries must be in by Christmas Eve (Dec 24th) at the latest. These will need to be sent to Santas super-secret Gmail which will now be provided.

2. Effort:

This is really important everyone, make sure that you put a lot of effort and heart into your art. Your ability and the style you choose doesn't matter, what’s important is that you give this your all. This is something you want to be proud of, and as long as your try I’m sure your recipient will love the results. Try to make the gift personal, do a bit of digging about your person, read their comics/diary they like to keep under their mattress, and draw something that you think they will like. Don’t just slap together a Reindeer arm wrestling Sonic the Hedgehog for someone who shows no interest in Sonic or the great sport of Arm Wrestling. This isn't about YOUR interest, it’s a special gift for someone else.

Sprites are okay, but if you choose this medium, SPRITES CAN NOT BE SIMPLE RECOLORS, ALL SPRITES USED MUST BE 100% ORIGINAL.

The head elves will be going over sprite submissions very carefully and will send burly mustachioed gentlemen to your place of residence if your submission is found wanting. Disgruntled burly mustachioed gentlemen.

3. Secret Santa:

Please do not reveal yourself until given permission, and also please don’t say who you think anyone else is.

4. Image sizes:

Keep your images to a maximum of 800 Pixels wide. This will make things easier for us and you'll know what your picture will look like displayed.

5. Art Theft:

Art theft will not be tolerated for the Secret Santa. Anything you create must be your own work. Santa is always watching, always.

6. Mature Content

Mature artwork is allowed for the Secret Santa. However, if you do submit mature works, it will go on to a separate NSFW Santa site. If you are squeamish and don't want to chance receiving mature artwork, please state so when you sign up. You will be put on a separate "SFW" list.



If you doubt you will be able to follow these rules, please do not sign up. The head elves may bend the rules from time to time to help someone out (Probably not this year because they too awesome for things like “Mercy”), but it will be at their discretion (NO). Do not rely on this happening, or you may end up being labeled a scrooge!



Punishment

First and foremost, being labeled a scrooge is a matter of shame. A mark that you don’t care much for the other members of this community, and can’t live up to your promises, Ho Ho No you don’t want that now do you?

Being a Scrooge will put you on a list that will disqualify you from next year’s Secret Santa.

Applications close on the 5th of December, and the name of your partner will be PMed to you around the 8th of December.
